Phillip Woods was born in Chester in 1968 and attended a local school. upon
leaving school, Phill was taken on as an apprentice to Paul C. Delrue
(himself, an internationally renown bookbinder) in his old bindery on the
city walls in chester. Here phill learned all of the traditional bookbinding
methods using hand tools and traditional materials. Within two years, Phill
had won 'young bookbinder of the year' award at the Society of Bookbinders conference.
After a brief encounter with the printing world, Phill decided that his heart lay in bookbinding
and continues his trade today in his own bindery just six mile outside of Chester in Buckley.
realising that Chester university students were struggling to find a
dissertation binder locally, Phill prides himself on being able to produce
these bindings within very tight deadlines, hand bound, and in accordance
with every students individual needs.
